The Puppy Proof Garden Guide

Congratulations!

Its time to get the pooch.

Bouncing bundle of gorgeousness incoming.

GULP! BIG LIFE COMMITMENT COMING RIGHT UP! (But its totally worth it, I promise )

And like any committed doggie owner you’re working your way through the must have / do check list.

Puppy training pads

Collar and lead

Food and drink bowls

Squeaky toys - (you might regret this one)

Chew toys - (an absolute God send)

Poo bags

Fluffy bedding

BUT, wait!

Did you consider what might be lurking in your garden that could potentially harm your little one?

After all, your fluffy friend will probs be spending quite a bit of tiddle time there. Not just that but as they grow they’ll need that extra zoomie, dig and ball catch space.

To make life a little easier here are a few lists of plants that are both good and NOT good for Fido.

Make sure to check these off your doggie list to ensure a safe and happy garden life.

Now that’s checked off the list you can chill a bit - until that sweet little rascal is home and then there is no chilling for like...the first year (if you are lucky)

You will also need to check what house plants are hazardous if, like me, you are a crazy plant lady and have plants EVERYWHERE!

Here is a good list...

AND...DID YOU KNOW?

Slugs and Snails carry a horrible parasite that can potentially cause heart worm in your canine companions if they ingest one. Yikes! Definitely NOT something you want to be dealing with so best practice is to zap those nasty critters before your little Digger does.

We highly, highly recommend some natural deterrents and have found the following to be safe for dogs but deadly for slugs and snails (which is exactly what we are aiming for)

Nematodes - Diatomaceous Earth - Garlic spray - Beer Traps. You can buy all of these online.

Now we’ve covered the basics you should be free to release the beast in to the garden.

May your flowers be safe, the digging be shallow and the mud be minimal
